José Manuel Yáñez López

Dean of FAVET; Full Professor; Laboratory Director 

José is the founder and director of the laboratory, serving as a full professor at the University of Chile and currently acting as the dean of FAVET. He has a wide-ranging career in various areas of genetics, such as quantitative genetics, genomics applied to aquaculture, genetic marker analysis, population genetics, and genetic statistics. His expertise also spans genomic selection, understanding the genetic architecture of complex traits, integrating genomic information into breeding programmers for aquaculture species, and implementing advanced genotyping. Moreover, he excels in areas like association analysis, exploring genotype-environment interaction, mapping quantitative trait loci (QTL), and applying marker-assisted selection. These achievements and skills are prominently reflected in his enriched academic portfolio, accompanying his distinguished career.
